Shelby Health Equity Advocates provides programming aimed at addressing disparities in healthcare. Our outreach programming and events like community health clinics, mobile health units, and preventive care initiatives provide health education and access to quality care to our city’s most vulnerable population.
We work alongside healthcare partners to provide access to affordable medications, mental health services, and targeted healthcare for specific health issues prevalent in underserved communities.
Our Programs
Community Health Screenings
We provide free or low-cost health screenings for conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and cholesterol in communities where access to annual screenings may not be readily available.
Mobile Clinics
We improve access to basic medical care – offering check-ups, screenings, and vaccinations to communities with limited access.
Nutrition Education Workshops
We address nutritional disparities and promote healthy eating habits by providing educational material, heathy eating workshops, and cooking classes.
Mental Health Outreach
We aim to reduce the mental health stigma and improve the mental and behavioral health in marginalized communities by offering counseling services, support groups, and raising awareness around whole-body wellness.
Access to Medication
We work alongside health care partners to assist individuals in obtaining affordable medications and prescription drugs – ensuring access to essential treatments.
